I LOVE the name Emma. And apparently, so do many, many other new parents, because it's been #1 or close to it for a several years now in the US. So now, Emma is almost a word rather than a name, and seemingly boring and bland. I would suggest you avoid the Top 5, at least.
The Top 10 are:
Emily, Emma, Madison, Abigail, Olivia, Isabella, Hannah, Samantha, Ava, Ashley.. and Sophia will be in there soon enough.
There are many other elegant and old-fasioned options to choose from. My name is Jennifer, and I despised always being 1 of 4 Jenny's in my class. I hated my name because it was so common and thats the same complaint you hear from many children with an overly common name. This is why, I would strongly urge you to avoid Emma and Madison as 1st names. I dont think it matters if you choose an overly popular name for the mddle since no one will call her by that anyway.

The Social Security Administration has a list of most common baby names. For 2005 Emma was #2 and Madison was #3. I still like the name though,

I have 3 children ages 4, 7, and 10. I have yet to meet an Emma. I think it is a beautiful name. My middle child's name is Jessica Madison, so obviously I am also very fond of that one as well.

Very pretty and very common. My daughter has 2 Madison's and an Emma in her class. But don't let that dissuade you - if you like the name use it!

I think it is a pretty name. Common- A little. Those names are usually in the top 100 every year. At least since my girl was born. but it really matters if you like it and if you can see calling your daughter that. Just my advice though. good luck
