PC but would consider a Mac in the future

Definitely PC, because they can be built from scratch, swapped out with the many spare parts I have, and can be customized to my liking exactly. A Mac has to be bought directly from Apple or a retail store for an exorbitant price, can't be upgraded except for Apple parts (can't be overclocked or tuned for best performance) and are in proprietary cases with proprietary hardware. If you put 5 PC's of the same model in a room side by side, and 5 Mac's of the same model side by side, you wouldn't be able to tell the Mac's apart. (That's what I think of when I think of Mac: just the same thing every time) And how many thousands of forums are dedicated to PC discussion and modding? A lot more than for Mac, I must say.

There are millions more programs for PC than for Mac, and PC users don't have to worry about Apple always switching processor types and making the user pay for it with a new computer or software specially designed for either PowerPC or x86-Intel. You could go burn a few more dollars on an emulator, too, which still isn't ideal. Why is there a Boot Camp to run on Mac, but no official program to run OS X on a PC? Because it isn't necessary.

I really dislike their commercials that try to convince people that Mac is better because it doesn't get viruses or spyware. Well I don't have any special software on my PC except Firefox, and I have common sense. That's why I don't have anything wrong with my computer, and don't have to spend time fixing it like they show in the commercials. Most of their ads just talk about iLife as well, which is a pretty low-featured media application suite. That's not a reason to buy one computer over the other.

Another reason why I won't even be paid to be given a Mac is because of the iPod. There's nothing wrong with it, except there are a lot other better players on the market like there have been for years for lower prices. (Pricing definitely seems to be Apple's problem) Everybody has one and everybody seems to think it is the only music player in existence. Some even think that an iPod is different than an MP3 player, even though in essence it does play MP3's and music from Apple's DRM-infested Music Store. iPod is almost like Windows being the most popular OS, except Windows doesn't have most of the problems that the iPod does being on top. So XP does have a lot of security flaws, I will say that, but at least Microsoft is quick to fix them instead of Apple who won't even acknowledge flaws that do exist in OS X, believe it or not.

Another thing: if you really want to do a comparison of mac and pc, go to http://www.xvsxp.com and check out their detailed reviews there comparing Windows XP and OS X head on. Happy reading!
