I would use CSS to give it a fixed max width and change the font / background color combinations. Although the stark contrast of white on black works great with items like menu selections or headlines, it makes the smaller font content run together. perhaps a lighter weight font? Gallerys should be spelled Galleries. I would consider using a background picture with transparency or perhaps a graduated shift from black into another color as you go down the page. I like the colored ball in the banner graphic but
it really doesn't need to track the cursor, if you put in a preset movement of any colored
items on load of the flash or even just find a good place to leave it static. The menu system looks good but the items get cut off if you change your browser text size larger. That said, for a first website it looks good...

Ok hope this helps if only a little anyway
I think the website is looking good sofar but can be much improved...
I like the sub menus from the list on the left hand side but i think the the main list could be made more interesting, maybe by adding symbols at the side of them, or maybe a LITTLE bit fancier writting.
I like the dark backgroud but I still think a little bit more colour wouldn't go astray, I wouldn't add too much so that it appears cheap, my idea would be to add one more bright colour like a nice Red and stick to that colour theme throughoug the site.
when I first opened the page my first thought was that there was alot of text in the opening page, I would try and cut this back as it may lose the viewers attention as i know his might be though you could try putting it under sub-headings.
I do like your site, i just think it needs to be a littlemore inviting so i hope I have helped or given you ideas.
Hope it goes well for you

Border around your text or maybe the whole page. And I hate when the scrolly down thingy (forgive my terminology... and spelling!) is only for part of the page! My suggestion: go to random websites and get some ideas

I like it
maybe instead of a black background use a subtle image (similar to the one in the lower right corner) but light enough so not to interfere with the text

I would recommend ditching the frameset, and use a templatiing system (in PHP, for example) to assemble the pages. Framesets just break the granularity of your site, and make it impossible to email a link to a particular location.
