I know the Basques were around before the Romans came into Gaul.

Certainly one of the oldest "Old Nations", Nations or tribes which have alongside with Greeks survived up to day. Yet there are some older ones as well. All these ethnic groups peoples were the inhabitants of Balcanian Peninsula, such as Moesi, Moedi, Getae, Thracians, Panons etc...

I don't know if they, themselves, are the oldest ethnic group in Europe but I know their language is. At the moment, linguists don't know where the Basque language came from since it is not Spanish or a derivation of Latin.

Yes they are. Too, their language does not derive from any known European language. It is also not Indo European. They are not French or Spanish. Scope the following:

hmm im sure there is a degree of dbeate on this issue but i would guess no. i wuld think it was the goths or the slavs
