Last night, my bunnies mated for the first time ever. My female, Rose, is great. She is so calm and lovable, etc. But today, when I went to pick her up, she bit me! And she attacts my hand, and she almost growls, makes a really strange sound. What does all this mean? Does mating for the first time really effect them that much, or is it something else I wonder? Thanx!

She's hormonal, she's pregnant, just leave her alone.

I have a male rabbit and after we mated him with my friend's bunny, she too got emotionally depressed. I don't know how old your rabbit is but rabbits under 10 months sometimes deal abnormally to childbirth as would a teenager. No matter how old, your rabbit could have a cause of "PMS" and will show signs of this for the next few days/weeks depending on the reaction. This is normal. But, I suggest researching how help your rabbit give birth because otherwise, the babies could die.

She is probably pregnant and it probably hurts her when you touch her stomach. I would just leave her alone until she has her babies because she is probably really tired and sore and stuff like that. Just let her be and she will be fine. Hope I helped.

Could be motherly instincts kicking in due to hormonal change?
