UK question: It's been nearly three months and I've kept in contact with them and they even gave me a bit of holiday pay which was nice. But I'm still owed about £250 and they're not being helpful at all, they're not getting back to me, I've rang them countless times and still = no payslip and no pay. What can I do to make them pay? Should I take them to court? Or is there an easier way?

Cheers for any help

I suggest a professionally-worded letter in which you can state exactly what work it is that you feel you are owed payment for. Remind them of the last date you were paid for work, and why this amount is due beyond that. Ask to be informed if they have any reason to withhold that pay. State that you expect to be paid by a reasonable date, probably within two to three weeks. If you receive no response to this letter and a follow-up phone call, then take all your documentation to an employment lawyer to see if you might have a case. In the US, such a matter might be handled in small claims court, and that I know is a process individuals can undertake themselves. I'm not sure of the exact UK equivalent.

There are two really easy ways to get people to NOT do what you want.

1. Ask them over the phone.
2. Ask them again over the phone.

I know this is hard, but what you need to do is walk in unannounced! All smiles and greetings and right there in front of everyone that you can arrange to have hear you, SAY it. To your manager preferably, they are the one that benefited from your work.

"YOU have FAILED to pay me for work completed some month ago"...Someone will be right over to escort you to the proper closed office to wait for your check. Turn from happy to see to "I'd love to shoot you!!" People find their checkbook perty dern quickly here in gun toten USA when someone gets crazy acting.

No one wants to feel uncomfortable. Just make them not writing you a check as uncomfortable as you legally can.

Pretend you are an actor,(Hugh Grant) see if you can pull it off. Make like it was a big joke as soon as you see that check and confirm the correct sum owed is what is on there. All hand shakes all around and assure them you understand how misunderstandings can cause papers to get lost...

And walk out of there with your big ones clanging!!

Now Go get your money!!

There isn't a "real" paying job for someone as young as 12 or 13 years of age. There's laws to protect child labor. See if you can work out a deal with your parents. Allowances for doing house chores or "A"sing a test in school.
