I think 'home' is a state of mind. It is the soft air, the familiar fragrance, the comforting furniture, the feeling of acceptance, the kowledge that G-d is there - whispering the essential thoughts and words we so need to hear and at least partly want to know.

I think you will find that it is the people and the surroundings or the lack of them which makes one place more comfortable than another. I think true happiness or true feelings of home can be found in moments, a moment of laughter or of fun, of theater or of art, any moment in time when you enjoyed yourself. There are many moments I would love to go back to or experience again, and there are places where I have had these moments and when I go back the place does not seem as grand or as great as before because I am not the same person or the other people or things which made the place great are not there.
That is why they same home is where the heart is at. If you love family, theater, art, music, books, sports, or any other thing at all, you will find yourself at "home" when you go to these places or participate in these things.
Life is nothing but a collection of moments, enjoy each one and live for each moment. Each moment we have brings us closer to the moment of our death. Enjoy life.

I am very fortunate that the place where I live now, a space I share with my adult children fits your description. You are right that it is not always where we are, and sometimes people meditate on such a place for the sake of calmness. It is sometimes referred to jokingly as "My Happy Place" but in fact, it can give a person a warm and contented feeling to mentally visit their heart's home, if they can't be there physically.

Yes! I'd love to go home. I just don't know where it is, yet. I can't remember a place that I could call home.
Home could mean alot of things, ... I guess I'm at home within my skin- wherever I go, wherever that may be. Right?

as a child my home was never where i lived it was the skate park at nite or the crappy apartment were my grandfather lived. it wasnt that i didnt have a care in the world or i was safe
it was that i sad to say fit in my grand father never yelled or told me i was worthless the skate park was brutel but fun as hell i learned more there then i did at home and sometimes your soul just dosnt fit. but now that im older i wouldnt say grown up im a big kid but im older
i cant skate any more surgery dosnt allow me. my grandfathers dead and gone but the art studio at college were im always in comforts me and my favorite coffee shop lets me gather all my thoughts. deep down i think our souls have a personality and sometimes where we sleep isnt our home, and that is harder on a kid they cant always go where they want to for good reasons but at least you know were yours is and seem like your able to get there often. only time i got to go to the skate park was when i got kicked out of my house and the guy that worked there would let me in so i could crash on the couch skate and watch skate movies till i went to school. best thing is find it even if it changes as you grow and let it be your home.

I feel more at peace outdoors than indoors, provided the weather is not bad.
I like to go to the less-visited State and Federal Parks, not necessarily wilderness areas, just somewhere quiet and away from lots of noise and people.
