I bought a motorcycle but it won't pass the state inspection yet. I need to get the title in my name, but not license it. Is that possible?

yeah dude you need the bill of sale from the guy you bought it from, sighned by him saying you purchased it from em and if he has it, and he should ask em to give ya the tital for the bike. you must have that tital, it usualy changes hands every time the bike is sold or even given to someone else. if he dosen't have it you have to try to get a new tital and it's a pain in the ***! trying to get those people down at the D.O.T to move there asses.

Yeah, you just transfer the title. The license plating is a completely different transaction that most people just happen to do at the same time.

Just take the title and bill of sale to the DMV, and have it titled to you...very simple. I have had titles switched countless times, you don't have to register the bike, just have to pay the title fees.

You go to DMV and change the title into your name, but you do not register/tag it.
