Is your Grandfather or Grandmother still living? Borrow a tape recorder and ask them to tell you about the old days, when they were a girl/boy.. Ask them what was good about their childhood, how things have changed, what was better, easier back then, what is better, easier now. If they are not still living, go to a nursing home and find the oldest person there who is still in good health, hearing and ask that person the same thing. Now type up the most interesting things you have heard from these people, (700 words is really not that many) and put the story in a nice folder, with a picture of say the depression, (men standing in a soup line) if they talk about the depression, or someone cooking, (if they talk about cooking for the farm hands at harvest). If you have a printer that works, not out of ink you could download a nice picture for the front page of the folder. Teachers appreciate those extra little touches that you put on your homework. Good Luck

Think of any topic that interests you, from sports to history. The best story is to write the story of a movie that you have watched, it will be long and interesting.

No, you are supposed to "write." Anyway, take a situation that happened in real life, tweak it a little, and write a short story about it.

Write about your "perfect day." What happens from the time you wake up until you go to bed.
Or write about the person you admire most and why you admire them.
Or write about one thing in the world you would change and why it's important.
good luck!

the easiest way to find something to write about is something you are passionate about. I'm sure you have some major interest, write a story about it.
