Actually, in the world beyond your continent, as a result of the war in Iraq, the US and Brits are being regarded as parts of the same team out there. Let's face it: everyone on the planet is afraid of America because of its military might and because it can go where it wants, when it wants, to do whatever it wants. It's hard to do more than just grumble about such a powerful country.
As for WWII, ask any real historian: The UK, America, Canada and the Russians contributed to the end of Nazi Germany, albeit with the help of extra vehicles and arms made in the US. They won that war together.

Only because Hitler eventually declared war on you, right near the end.
Your help was so generous we have been paying the loan back for sixty years, just made the last payment.
I don't hate Americans just your idiot of a president and loopy Condoles.
Having him introduced all the time as leader of the free world DOES NOT HELP. I am a member of the free world and idiot bush is most definitely NOT my leader.
I was born during the war and grew up in Portsmouth what was left standing, NO I AM NOT GRATEFUL to you.
I think you are letting down all the good Americans I know and count among my friends.
Has that explained it for you you small brained plonker

I am sure you are only doing this to wind people up and you don't really want serious answrs but just in case you do
Yes of course most British people are grateful for the support of many countries in beating Hitler 60 years ago (though I don't remember many US planes taking part in the Battle of Britain ) But just because the US gave support 60 years ago doesn't mean the US can do whatever it wants now and stuff everyone elses opinions

just another typical yank thinking that his country won the war on their own. Where was the United States during the Battle of Britain, where was the United states during the Dunkirk evacquation? I'll tell you where they were, sitting pretty, at pearl harbour where they were "taken completly by surprise" TWO YEARS INTO A GLOBAL CONFLICT! Just consider yourselves lucky that if i wasn't for the British winning the Battle of Britain, you'd all be speaking German by now, it's thanks to us youre still speaking English...to a certain degree!

We don't hate you but we do dislike your ignorance and arrogance.
It's nice that you won the War for us all by yourself.
My late father for one had a wonderful time lazing on the beaches of North Africa and Italy whilst you were busy winning the war for us.
Many thanks.
Just one question, why are you yanks always so bloody late arriving.

There are many reasons. One big one is that noone should "expect" thanks, it should be given freely. And I think hate is a really strong word, I think its more an irritation that you are can be brash and speak your mind when we would rather everyone just got on. Also it was in the Americans interest to help to stop world domination by the Nazis. Also, why do you care what "little" England thinks.

You didn`t come into world war 2 to help any body. You came into world war 2 because Japan forced you in.

You'd be speaking French if it wasn't for us Brits... and you're making up for being late in the last 2 world wars by getting in early for the next one...

I think that you will find that the Russians had something to do with winning WW2 as well. Besides, apart from the Civil War, how many wars have the yanks won on their own?
