White collar job interview: no goatee
Blue collar job interview: a goatee is usually okay unless you will be working in a clean controlled environment.

I think aout gave a good answer. I'm a government lawyer and I've always had a moustache and "soul patch" and no one ever cared. I don't think a clean, neatly trimmed goatee would bother most employers. Also, there's not a thing wrong with saying in the interview, "I'd be happy to shave my goatee if the company prefers your employees to be clean shaven." That shows you know it could be an issue and you're happy to deal with it if the company cares. I'm from a Rocky Mountain state and I know things are more relaxed here. I go to Court in cowboy boots and good jeans, but with a tie and jacket, of course.

Yes it can make a difference.
But, it can also depend a lot on the type of company and/or industry you are interviewing with...older more "established" types would prefer the clean look...Newer "hipper" types won't care as much.
The best advise I can give you, is to visit the company without and take a look at as many different employees as possible. The more beards or goatees you see, the less reason to shave; the less you see, the more reason to shave it off.

if you have the time, go by the macy's store where you will be interviewing. take some to look at the employees already working there. do you see males with goatees and a pony tail? take your cue from what you see. if employees have goatees or pony tails maybe you can interview that way, if not ...

Clean shaven is always better than facial hair for a job interview.

It could make a difference. But, as long as you make sure that it's nice, neat and not too long, it should be fine. Also make sure that the rest of your face is clean shaven. You don't want any stubbly re-growth.

i usually shave unless it's a construction job or something where they wouldn't care. But for buisiness or customer relations it's best to be as presentable as possible.

If it were me, I'd shave. Then later on depending on my feel for the place,I might consider growing it back.

If it's a dot.com type job, keep it. I would say on any other professional career, shave it.
Just my 2cents.
