Before you can multiply, you must have all terms the same.
Right now you have 16 ft. x 12 ft. x 4 inches. Lets go ahead and change feet to yards. A yard contains 3 ft. Therefore to change 16 ft to yards you divide by 3 and you get 5.33 yards. Now divide 12 ft by 3 and you get 4 yards. A yard also contains 36 inches. To convert 4 inches to yards divide by 36 and you get .11 yard. Now you can multiply all the similar terms
5.33 yds x 4 yds x .11 yds = 2.35 cubic yards

16' x 12' x4"=?cubic yards?
To get the answer in yds³ convert all dimensions to yds
So 16' = 16/3 yds ( as 3' = 1 yd)
12' = 12/3 yds ( as 3' = 1 yd)
4" = 4/36 yds (as 36" = 1 yd)
So 16' x 12' x4"= 16/3 x 12/3 x 4/36 yds³
=64/27 yds³
≈ 2.037037 yds³

the first thing you have to do is convert everything to yards.
you should end up with:
5.3 X 4 X 0.11
= 2.332 cubic yards

16'*12'*1/3'=64ft^3
1 yd^3=27ft^3
64ft^3/27ft^3/yd^3=2.37 yds^3
