i don't think too honest explains it. the restaurant shouldn't let you pay if they are under 5 and you shouldn't feel obligated to pay no matter how much they eat. would you pay for 2 buffets for yourself if you knew you were going to eat at least twice as much as anyone else there?

It's not a matter of being honest... It's not like you r lying about their ages.
However, since they're letting the kids eat for free, it's kinda' ridiculous that you aren't taking advantage of it. I mean - how much could a 19 month old possibly eat at a Cinese buffet?
Leave a big tip instead, to show your appreciation.

Alright personally I would say there is no such thing as being too honest.....and I actually don't have any kids, but I do know how my nieces and nephews eat! But I would say that having the free buffet is a way to help get business to the restaurant and would take full advantage of it.....guilt free! :)

I am sure the restaurant takes into consideration babies that eat half and throw half on the floor pay the going rate and just leave a nice tip for the waiter.

I think that's honorable of you...it might slightly make up for the parents that come in with a dozen kids, buy one buffet and then let all the kids stock up on it...I used to waitress and had one woman that was notorious for doing that until our manager finally cracked down on her...

It is free for a reason. The people who come in after you may have little ones who eat like birds ..Enjoy the freebies... they do not last long!
