Chocolate. There is an alternate dog-friendly chocolate (it's technically not chocolate, but it tastes almost the same). Enough chocolate will kill a dog or cat.

Also, very greasy foods should be given in small amounts. It irritates a dog's digestive system (not a pretty sight).

Zach is right, chocolate can kill a dog. I've heard never give a cat aspirin. Also, some dry cat foods can cause deadly urinary problems in male cats, depending upon their ash content.

I'm not really sure about cats but I know that chocolate in large quantities can be fatal for dogs. Also onion can make a dog anemic and very sick.

I just know what not to feed dogs. Dogs cant eat anything with high fat content or spices it will iritate their stomach and intestines. It can even cause their intestines to bleed. Basicly don't feed it any food made with the intention of humans eating it.

-Chocolate: contains a chemical called theobromine. Dogs can't metabolize theobromine as efficiently as humans so it builds up in their systems until it reaches a toxic level of concentration, which may lead to a variety of problem with the most serious being death due to cardiac arrest.
-Onions and Garlic: Onions and garlic contain the toxic ingredient thiosulphate. Onions are more of a danger.
-Macadamia Nuts
-Pear pips, the kernels of plums, peaches and apricots, apple core pips (contain cyanogenic glycosides resulting in cyanide posioning)
-Potato peelings and green looking potatoes
-Rhubarb leaves
-Mouldy/spoiled foods
-Alcohol
-Yeast dough
-Coffee grounds, beans & tea (caffeine)
-Hops (used in home brewing)
-Tomato leaves & stems (green parts)
-Broccoli (in large amounts)
-Raisins and grapes
-Mushrooms
-Mustard seeds
-Walnuts
-Mistletoe berries
-Too much cat food
