The only parts a person can be is 100%, 1/2, x/4, x/8, x/16, x/32, etc. of something. Being 1/4 Indian or 1/16 Indian is certainly possible. 1/3 and 1/5 are not possible.
I am 1/16th Choctaw Indian. My great-grandfather was mixed Scottish and Choctaw. My grandmother was 1/4th, my mother is 1/8th and I'm 1/16th.

okay 1/16 is silly! lol!! cause from 1/6 a person no longer has that blood in them.
Hence the racist law (during slavery) that requires that only persons who are Octaroons (1/8 caucasian) are considered whites

If you are 1/2 blood that means one of your parents was full blooded. If you are 1/4 it means that one of your grandparents is full blooded. 1/8 means that one of your great-grandparents was full blooded...and so on and so on......Hope this helps!!!

Your great-grandma is 100% native american. Her husband is 0%. Put them together and you get 50% native am. kids. Take one of those kids, couple with a 0% spouse, you get 25% native am. kids. Take one of those kids, couple with a 0% spouse, you get 1/16 native am. kids (i.e. you in this example).
And so on.
