What should be a the topic?

There is this book contest and we have to write books for children. What are some topics that I should write about? It must be for children the ages 3-6.

The hottest thing going in the children's lit genre is multiculturalism. Cultural studies, in general, has taken over the field of English/literature, and children's books that deal with cultural issues (gender identification, race, ethnicity) are being cranked out at alarming speeds right now. On the other hand, those that teach children something, like how to cope with death or loss of a loved one or pet, are also big. Write from a first person POV if possible, since this aids in children's identification with the speaker/narrator.

sharing/friendship! It is very important, kids can be very selfish at that age. Also counting, shapes, colors, or learning topics, those tend to do well. However, Ive noticed that most children's books are really lacking plot in the story department. When parents read their kids a bedtime story, the kids liek it to be exciting, adventurous, or funny. If you can somehow weasle all those into one master book, you would totally win. A good way to make a really good kids book is to appeal to the kids as well as the parents.

Another thing you could do, is attatch a moral behind it. That way, you would have a story that appeals to the kids, a moral that appeals to the publishers and parents, and you are subconciously affecting the minds of the future, all with one book!
