How much in trouble the person reading this book could be in depends on whether the children are old enough to read in the book, or whether it has inappropriate pictures they could see, or whether the children could have any access to the book.
Also, there are some questions you'll have to ask:
Does the daycare have rules about inappropriate materials?
Would the book fall into the category of inappropriate material?
If the daycare does have a rule against these materials, was the rule broken by the manner in which the book was present at the daycare?
In any case, if it were me personally, I would report finding the book to a supervisor if the book was in any place a child could possibly have run into it, versus in an adult-only place. Example: was the book in a room with children, or in an employee break room?
If finding this book made you feel uncomfortable, one might ask how a child's parent might feel if *they* found it at their child's daycare.
Hope this gets resolved for you!
Take care!

The children are not exposed to the book. Please try not to censor people's reading material. An x-rated movie could possibly be exposed to children, but not a book. Don't endanger someones means to make a living. Why harm someone because you are uncomfortable with seduction and betrayal? The children are happy and well cared for. That is what is important. Have an open-minded year.

If it is literature of an erotic nature then it has no business at a day care facility. If it is just a novel I wouldn't worry about it. If it is the former then I would be concerned about the judgment of the people I'm leaving my kid with and I definitely would bring it up to the daycare facilities owner.

Where did you find it? Was it somewhere that children would see it and were there children who could read it? And what exactly was it? From your description it could be anything from a romance to historical fiction to soft porn to hard porn or almost anything else. It depends upon exactly what it was and where it was. If it was in a "staff only" area and was not porn I would not say anything. If it was porn, or was in the children's area and it was something I was concerned about, I would probably just hand it to the daycare owner/manager/principal and say where I found it and indicate that it made me uncomfortable to find such reading material around the children.

As long as the kids don't see or read it then it's no big deal really, but if you have a problem with it you should ask the person that runs the daycare to get rid of it.

Are there any clues about who left it there ?
Notify the owner and file a report with the police & give the police the book . . . maybe they can determine who owns it.

I mean, if it is erotic literature then it has no place being there, or any workplace for that matter. If it's just a romance novel, no big deal.
