I am in the process of getting a Divorce. We have been apart 2 1/2 years. Can I file Married Filing Separately?

Yes, but your tax rate will be higher than filing jointly as a married couple.

Yes. A married couple still living together can file separately. Just make sure you both don't try to take the same deductions (children, etc.).

Have you actually filed yet?? When I filed for divorce my attorney put in the papers that I could file single even before my divorce was final. (Mississippi attorney). Check with your attorney.(If you have one already)

Check the IRS website and make sure you qualify for that filing status.
