They were even against a minimum wage increase even though CEO's are paid hundreds of milions of dollars regardless of performance.

CEO's lay off workers by the tens of thousands, send jobs to China, claiming that they need to cut expenditures. Then they leave the company with hundreds of millions of dollars in their pockets.

Repubs even give companies tax incentives to move overseas. Every negative thing they do is out of fear. Every positive thing they do is out of obtaining more money or power.

The Democrats want to raise your taxes and you say the Republicans are against the working class and poor? The Democrats successfully brainwashed you into ignoring reality and repeating their talking points.

Besides why should there be a federal minimum wage? Each state has it's own economy where the poverty level is different. Why should someone in NYC or Alaska with a high cost of living be paid the same entry salary as someone in Mississippi or Alabama where there is a much lower cost of living?

The federal minimum wage is another Democrat Robin Hood scheme aimed at the redistribution of wealth. Wages are increasing faster than inflation for the second straight year, especially at the bottom tiers of the economy, touching the minimum wage will grind that increase to a halt.

You must have hit a soft spot considering the violent responses. But despite their name calling and hate, they can't disguise the fact that the Republican leadership has continually refused to even consider a minimum wage increase...forcing many states to do so on their own this last election. In those states, the measure passed.

They also can't hide the fact that Bush's touted tax cuts benefit the rich, not the middle class and poor. It is the Democrats that have pushed for these cuts...to the Republicans rancor.

It is the Bush Administration and the Republican leadership that has also done considerable damage to labor laws...the laws that protect regular workers...not management and CEOs.

Republicans hide behind "small business tax cuts" and other red herrings to divert away from the minimum wage and worker protection issue. The plain truth is that any savings or benefit given to a business goes to the management and executives of that company...not that worker. Cost of living has continually risen while worker compensation has fallen way behind the curve. This can be directly contributed to 16 years of Republican Congressional leadership.

The Republicans have had control of the Congress for some 16 years...the result is obvious.

I don't think they hate the poor or working class, until they demand they're rights; like forming unions. In the old days they would hire goons to beat and intimidate anyone who tried to form a union, and many people suffered to establish the right of the worker to unionize in America, nowadays, they just bring out their shill lawyers to block unions in the courts, it is always difficult to unionize during Republican administrations because they control workers rights through the government bureaus. Mostly they have run propaganda campaigns against unions, telling people that they are to blame for the price of things. This is an absolute sham to keep workers down, and it works. The middle class became possible in America, because union workers brought wages up to afford decent housing, and establish healthcare insurance for employees, but none of these things are taught in our schools and this generation knows nothing of unions or their history, a sad commentary on America. Edit; There are too many lies here to count; first, they start with insults, since they have no argument; second, they state things that are blatantly false, for a study on the effects of minimum wage go to Economic Policy Institute, June 2000. Raising the minimum wage has no long term effect on jobs. Now, Look carefully at their complaint, first they say that very few people are effected by the raise, because they already make more, then they say that if it is raised, it will cause economic hardship. If they're already making more and it doesn't affect many, how could it create a hardship. Ya gotta laugh at these buzzards!

What? They don't hate either group, that's their bread and butter. No minimum wage increase in ten years equals more profits in the pockets of those getting wealthy off the sweat of others. I keep reading about people working hard, what I don't hear is that those same hard working people are getting paid a living wage for their work, not a minimum wage. This is 2007 how can anyone live on the current minimum wage. If you were a business owner and could pay people two bucks an hour, would you? I think there are many people out there who would, they just won't admit it.

Democrats have been lying to you for so long that you actually believe it! I am amazed. Republicans don't hate anyone. It is conservative philosophy to create equal opportunity for everyone in the US. What you do with the opportunity is up to you, no guarantees.
Liberals want the government to control everything and liberals want to control the government. Minimum wage issue for Democrats is a vote buying gimmick.
Anyone with even a meager understanding of basic economics knows that there is ultimately no benefit to raising the minimum wage. Minimum wage amounts to a back-door tax on small businesses.
Work your way up to CEO and you will enjoy the benefits. I am sure that you will accept millions in salary if it is offered. Being successful and/or rich are things many people want.

Because they think we've been given a free ride when it's the exact opposite. Half of those people were either born with a silver spoon in their hands or a silver foot in their mouths anyhow, so most of them got so wealthy because they had the fortune of being born into the right family.

Unlike those a**holes who are overpaid, we actually work our damn butts off in order to obtain a better standard of living for ourselves. They don't want us to be on their level(unless it's Donald Trump and the co-author of the book they wrote that's a best seller)

Muse, you're an a**hole who actually needs to WORK in order to appreciate the fact that we're not all lazy like you seem to think we are. Get over yourself, and get some sympathy for those who are less fortunate than you are.

C=JD, so much for claiming that the asker is an arrogant buffoon when you're doing a better job of proving the opposite. The asker was telling the truth much to your dismay, so get over yourself!

Jesi, you might want to work on using your brain more often because beauty gets you nowhere unless you want to be in H-wood(probably too damn liberal for you anyhow). What you spewed is a bunch of LIES AND YOU KNOW IT! The only people paying less taxes are the wealthy a**holes who vote for the idiot running this country(the devil). The democrats only raise the taxes for the wealthy because it's only fair that they pay more because they earn more...or does that sound too damn communist to you?

Any of the other people who claim that the republicans do so much good that the democrats are evil since we make the wealthy pay more taxes because they earn more, you need to become better informed about who pays less taxes. It's the rich, not anyone from the middle and working classes. If that were the case, then we wouldn't have a rising number of people living on paycheck to paycheck or deciding whether or not they'll go hungry or without heat just so they can pay their bills for medicare. If they're decreasing the amount of taxes you claim we pay so much of, then why are there a majority of hard working people out there who aren't insured and are lucky enough to pay any doctor's, dentist's or hospital bills without the threat of being sued because they're short on money. And no, they WORK THEIR DAMN BUTTS OFF TO MAKE AN HONEST LIVING WHILE THE A**HOLES WHO SUPPORT THE REPUBLICANS WASTE DECENT TIME WORKING BY HORDING AWAY MONEY FOR THEMSELVES OR TAKING UNNECESSARY VACATIONS WHEN THEY SHOULD BE WORKING. Get a brain.

First, your arrogant assumption that Republicans "hate the working class and poor" is totally baseless.

A recent book shows that conservatives donate to charities in GREATER numbers and larger amounts thus torpedoing your assumption.

Secondly, Republicans don't control CEO salaries. It's called a FREE market.

Third, you obviously haven't read a word of BASIC ECONOMICS because if you did, you'd know WHY Republicans disagree with the minimum wage (it creates higher unemployment, raises the costs of goods and services, puts small employers out of business, etc.)

Of course, you knew NOTHING of this, but it didn't stop u from posting your uninformed opinion.

Actually, I love the working class as that is where I hail from. Have been poor a time or two also. Why the word hate? Can liberals say dislike or against or anything besides hate?

The minimum wage was never supposed to be a livable wage. Get a real job and earn a real salary.

Increases in minimum wage increases the cost of production, an increase in the cost of production equals an increase in consumer prices there by negating the raise in the minimum wage..... get it???

Do some math.

So. do you suggest CEOs get minimum wage? How about that instead. Don't raise the minimum wage, lower corporate salaries. That way someone who doesn't bother to better themself thru education or training will be just as bad off as someone with an MBA.
