I'm not sure what you mean by tide, but when I was in England, everyone I met was really friendly, polite, and helpful. They are also some of the funniest people on this planet. I have yet to meet someone from England that I don't like.

The UK is probably one of the most cosmopolitan and liberal societies you're going to find in the English-speaking world. There are freedoms of expression and of the press in that country, which cannot be matched in the US. England is also gun-free.
Maybe: A lot of English people are not interested in smiling or being chatty with anyone they don't really like; in their minds, they are probably just being more honest or less fake.
By the way, is 'tide' another version of 'tight'?

NO THAT IS NOT TRUE! by the sounds of it you don't live in England? you don't no what its like to be TAXED ON EVERYTHING! scraping at the bottom of a hole because of all the immigrants coming in given jobs and spacial treatment! you don't know what its like to live working all hours you can get your hand on and still not quite having enough to pay rent or and the bills! a lot of people in England have around two to three jobs now tell me are we lazy? tell me are we selfish because we try to provide a good life for are family's its easy to criticize when you haven't gone through what most of the Brits are every day!
