my brother has beeen charged with a crime and the DA keeps pushing back the court date 5 times now saying that he is waiting on evidence. Luckily my brother is out on bail but he just wants this nightmare to end. doesn't he have rights to a speedy trial its been almost a year now what is the time frame?

It is same way in India too. The police are corrupt and if you want a time frame it depends on the type of the case. For instance indian laws states for cheating, criminal missappropriation type cases the police can take time as equal to the sentence, i.e 7 years to complete investigatrion. Crazy is it.

You must approach a higher court there to fix a timeline.

or simply follow your attorney's advice. Over the course of time the police guys might get transfered and a new guy may attend and he may be managed things like that your attorney knows.
