What exactly do you plan on doing with your laptop? Will it be used for strictly web browsing, email, and messaging?

Or do you plan on playing video games, editing photo/video, etc.?

Regards,
John

Please don't waste your money on Acer. I have bought two Acer laptops over the past few years (Travelmate & Aspire models) which I still have. The Travelmate was fine if a bit lacking in the process power stakes. The Aspire had a great spec and well up to professional and gaming use. However both laptops quickly developed cracks at the hinges which Acer support assessed seperately and stated on both occasions that the problem had developed due to misuse (£100 charge each to fix). If using these laptops at my home work desk or in the office is misuse then I should have obviously refrained from opening and closing the laptops on a daily basis. After spending over £1300 on both I am quite disappointed. The Aspire was less than a year old at this point. While in the hands of Acer's 3rd party UK repair outfit, they also managed to lose my Aspire in their warehouse for a whole month! Not very good from a customer relations point of view. The Aspire has since developed power issues which I have been quoted £200 for repair. I would recommend that you look elswhere to spend your cash.

I've had a Hewlett Packard Pavilion laptop since September last year and it's been pretty reliable throughout. Here's one for £399 in Comet which is essentially the next one up from what I have (although the only differences I see is that it has Windows Media Centre and the battery life seems a bit better)

i does not recommend a HP computer to each person, inspite of the indisputable fact that they make impressive printers! bypass to the Dell internet web site and look on the Inspiron 17 computing gadget its must be on sale for round $500 as is. the fee will bypass up or down ought to you been to make transformations to the unit they're providing. the really component i might want to replace is to improve the memory from 2GB to 3GB or extra. inspite of the indisputable fact that the common gadget comes with merely about each little thing a student needs. then you truthfully can artwork on getting an HP printer. :) strong success.

If you're happy with the spec I highly recommend them they may be cheap but the build quality is good and so is the aftersales service I've had one for 2 years now and it's still going strong

I also find Acer to make a good product for the money. I have never had any trouble with any of their hardware.
