I have had 3 unmedicated vaginal births.

My oldest was born in a hospital. I was in a birthing bed (bottom comes off it so doc can get closer to catch) and in a semi-sitting position. I wore a hospital gown.

My middle was born in a freestanding birth center. She was a waterbirth in a jacuzzi tub. I was naked. I was kind of squatting in the water when her head came out and then switched to hands and knees to birth her body.

My youngest was born at home. I wore either my bathrobe or nothing throughout labor. She was born in a rental birthtub in our kitchen. I was naked in the tub. I was squatting with my midwife standing outside the tub supporting me from behind. My hubby was in the tub with me and caught the baby.

ETA:
Laying flat on your back is the WORST position to give birth in. It makes you more likely to tear. It makes it harder. You don't get the help of gravity that way either.

I had a youngster a month in the past. I additionally had a midwife. I bought caught at 5cm with contractions one million after the opposite and I could not take it anymore. I desired an epidural, which supposed that I was once a switch of care. My midwives stayed with me the complete time despite the fact that, and feature performed the publish-delivery visits as good. I had two epidurals, neither of which labored (and the general practitioner had no concept why), so I had a spinal block, or anything it's that they deliver you if you have a c-phase, however no longer as robust. It was once intended to final four hours, however handiest lasted one. I then needed to beg them to deliver me a few morphine (which did not do a lot). So almost what I'm pronouncing, is uncover out in case your midwife has health center privileges. I had my daughter 12:19am Sunday morning and bought out Monday afternoon, however I would have left prior, or stayed longer.

Vaginal, hospital gown, no epidural, but did have stadol. If your having a baby, I highly reccomend having an epidural. I didn't have a choice, so I had to feel it. My friend just had a baby and wanted to go natural, now she says " she can't understand why she would choose to put herself through that kind of pain". I asked her the same question. Get drugs!!
