I have tried simply washing it but the hair seems to not want to come out --- I don't own a cat so am hoping that a cat owner may have a trick to share. Thanks

put on a rubber glove..one that has little bumps on the palm..and rub in a sweeping motion over the mat..you should find that the hair will roll into a long line and then you can pick it up and throw it away...( the cat hair not the mat)

maybe try tape, like wrap some tape around your hand and use the tape to get the cat hair off of it.

just throw it away, i wouldnt want my baby on cat hair. yuk

you don't get rid of it sweetie buy your child one ,or try a thrief store that sells them cleaner than that.
