You can private folders in your account's folder only. So, if your account, PETER is in C:\Documents and Settings\PETER, then any folder in PETER can be private.

You haven't given us much to work with here, it would have helped quite a bit if you had told us what OS you are using, the version of that OS. who owns the computer, what sort of account you have, administrator, or limited, what file formatt you are using as if it is FAT or FAT32 you simply do not have any security options at all. If you are using the NTFS then is Simple File Sharing enabled or is it disabled?

If Simple File Sharing is enabled, and you can check by going into Folder Options then to the View Tab, then scroll to the bottom and check if there is a check mark in Use Simple File Sharing (Reccomended) and if it is not checked then the full featured NTFS file sharing is enabled, which is also checkable by right clicking on any file or folder and looking for the Security Tab. If there is not any Security Tab, then you either have FAT or FAT32, or Simple File Sharing is enabled, or you have the Windows XP Home Edition which only allows for Simple File Sharing, period. Well, unless you enter Safe Mode, which you can then access the Security Tab inside there, but that is a real hassle so not a real option for easy work with files and folders.

So, which is it? If you have Simple File Sharing, then you can go to the My Documents folder, which contains your entire files system of documents, including your music, and photos and videos, right click it on the Start Menu, select Properties, then on the Sharing Tab, put a green dot in the radial button of "Do not share this folder". That makes your entire My Documents folder private, even from Administrators, unless they take Ownwership of it, which you would know right away if they did and could discuss it with whomever did it and request they give back Ownership to you.

Good luck and a very nice day too.
