For some time now I have alwasys been pondering on things that may never be answered. What is life? What do we "see"? What happens when we die? We "see" through our eyes yet not "see" through other peoples eyes. Its all to weird for me to explain it all. What if the world is gone, what will happen if there is no such thing as orginisms left in the "universe". And one more thing, What is the "universe"?

Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.

I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.

You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us. -

On a lighter note, "life" is a four letter word!!

On a more serious note, welcome to your journey through "life". I am also on a journey to try to discover and understand about life, the universe and everything, and I will briefly explain where I am up to. You may relate to this, you may not, but at least it may provide you with some food for thought.

To begin with, I am a qualified Physicist, and I am not a very religious person, so please keep that in the back of your mind.

I think it is important to distinguish between "life" and our "mind", "soul", "spirit" or whatever it is that you consider your consciousness to be. I will use the word "spirit", but substitute whatever you like. The only problem I have with using the word "mind" is that people tend to get it confused with the "brain", which is a physical thing.

Our bodies have "life", and our "spirit" is in some way connected with our bodies. I can't fully explain how. Our body experiences the universe through the five commonly agreed senses of touch, sight, smell, sound and taste. There may be other senses which have a direct link to our spirit, which don't rely upon our bodies. These are what are sometimes referred to as our "sixth" sense. To my knowledge the word "senses" relates purely to what our body can use to experience the universe.

Now, here is where I get very personal. That is I will describe MY experience of MY universe, because, as you say in your question, I cannot experience the universe through YOUR eyes (nor nose, nor ears, nor skin nor tongue).

MY universe has only ONE end. That end is where my body IS now. Right now, my experience of the universe is governed by what I can see, hear, feel, smell and taste where I am right now. So, in that way, I am the center of MY universe. If I travel somewhere else, the centre of MY universe travels with me. I will never be able to reach the "other end" of MY universe, because the universe will always extend out in every direction from where I am at the time. Our BRAIN has great difficulty comprehending something which only has ONE end, so people are forever asking whether the universe is finite and if it is, what is on the other side. It is semi-infinite. It has ONE end only. The one end of MY universe is different to the one end of YOUR universe. So, YOU and I live in parallel universes and those universes only coincide when you and I experience eachother.

Now to the even more difficult question regarding what is our "spirit", where did it come from and where will it go when we die? My very primitive notion is that there is some, yet not understood means by with MY spirit is connected to MY body. That is why I always wake up in the same body every morning. When we die, it is our body which dies, and so the connection is broken. Our body is merely a link to the "physical universe". The connection between our body and our spirit is established at some stage after conception, and normally remains until death. When our body is asleep, the connection is "put on hold" until we wake up again.

Anyway, there is far more to "The universe according to Mez", however it will need to wait......ahhh, yes, "Time", now there is another interesting phenomenon....to be revealed at another "time".

I hope this has helped a little.

There are several ways to explain answers to your questions. When people had not developed enough scientific knowledge we developed myths to explain natural phenomena. However, over the years through science we can explain most natural phenomena, but not all of it. Here, science mean a repeatable, and a reproducible explanation.

From what we know so far, life must have started off with special chemicals that were generated under some ideal conditions. This primordial soup can exist even today. Over the years, organisms have evolved into many species. Common attributes of life are that it has a life span, it reproduces, it regenerates, it defends itself against invading species, and it has the capacity to convert the needed chemicals from the surrounding environment.

There is nothing magic about anything else. When we die our body material is converted into other material in consistent with conservation of mass and energy. The Universe exists. It has matter and energy, and life that converts to each other all the time. We don't know how it started, or how it will end.

Life is what we are living now, all people, animals and plants have life. It is our time of being what we are. We 'see' light reflecting off of objects. The shape and color or those objects could not be seen without light. No one knows for sure if red to one person is what the other persons sees. I have asked that question before but most people don't 'get it'. They think I'm asking if we all see the same colors, and tell me 'yeah we all see the same color unless one of us is colorblind'. But, they didn't get it, that wasn't what I was asking. If someone sees blue and he is told it is red, he will always think blue is red. So if we are all told what a color is and 'we' see a certain 'color' no matter what it is, we will always call it what we were told it was. Do YOU understand what I'm saying? It has nothing to do with colorblindness, it has to do with one persons perception of a color and what he is told it is. Other people could see a lot of other things differently also. When the world is gone, all time will end for man. The universe will continue on but our time will have ended. It was only a speck of dust in time. Just rememeber, you ARE a part of it all and you are right where you are suppose to be:

.~~~;~~~;~<@..The Desiderata..@>~;~~~;~~~

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,

even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter,

for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble,

it's a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;

many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;

for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,

it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,

gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;

you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,

no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,

keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Life is my favorite brand of cereal. No, seriously.

Scientifically speaking, life came into existance when molecules of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen were arranged in some random order under the right circumstances to produce the first life form, one-celled bacteruim. Over time this one cell adapted and evolved into multiple-celled organisms through random, chance-driven evolutions resulting in multiple-celled organisms, and ultimatlely, we as humans.

Things that we see are a phenomena of light. Our eyes pick up light from different areas of the color spectrum that are reflected by the pigments and dyes in the objects around us. White light is a combination of all the colors of the rainbow. Our views of different objects changes as the location of our eyes in the three dimensional world changes.

No living soul knows what happens when someone dies. It's impossible for us to know.

If the world and all living things were gone, then the universe would consist of a large collection of elements, orbiting, freezing, melting, and colliding with one another without any purpose. There would be no point in the existence of anything, so there would be nothing. The universe itself is a vast expanse of elements. There is no end to it. If you were to leave earth to try and find the ends of the universe and traveled at light speed for seemingly infinite amounts of time, you would crash right back into earth again. The universe is one countinuosly confusing loop, made possible by black holes.

I myself, believe in the religious standpoint, because, as you might imagine, the existence/creation of anything, including life, would be more than impossible to ever be. Only God knows the answers to these questions, and our minds weren't built to understand them. It is impossible for anyone to ever know, much less comprehend any of their answers. The curiousity and desire to know is what ultimately drives us to God, just like He planned. As for whether or not you're going to Heaven or Hell, some believe that faith and obidience to God and acceptance of Jesus as Christ and Saviour is what gives us our ticket to heaven. But, we don't know whether or not this is true (I happen to believe that it is) and no one ever will until we pass. Hitler may have gone to Heaven, or The Pope to Hell. God's mercy and love is so great that anyone has the chance to go to Heaven.

Don't worry about it. Curiousity is natural, but you can't add a single hour to your life by thinking about this stuff. The answers will all come in due time, but in the meanwhile, just enjoy life.

There is a great article in Astronomy magazine. It talks about chemical life..that is the small lifeform that survives in thermopiles. Where the temperature is exceedingly hot and there is no reason why life should exist in these small bacteria. There was an understanding that all life was of carbon base..but this new discovery proved different. Its a great article..enjoy.
