I couldn't imagine going through the pregnancy this far and losing the baby. I'm 14 weeks, but I've heard of people losing their babies at 22 weeks. How hard would that be and why does that usually happen?

Congrats!!! You should be fine!! The sad truth is that you can loose the baby at anytime. It's just that you are more likely to loose the baby within the first 12 weeks. And then after you are so far along (not exactly sure how many weeks) they change the name to a still birth. I was pregnant with twin and lost one at around 9 weeks and lost the other at a little over 13 weeks. I couldn't tell you exactly why it happened the doctors were not even sure. There are lots of different reasons why women loose babies.

The chances of having a miscarriage after 13 weeks is low.. but still likely throughout the pregnancy. Why does it happen? well it depends on alot of factors... like where you work? do you stand alot? are you stressed? are you getting stressed out alot? are you depressed? high blood pressure? And all sorts of factors could come into it. If you fall and hurt yourself you can lose your baby... alot of things you have to consider while pregnant.

Your risks of miscarriage greatly decreases once you reach your second trimester. No one knows why miscarriage happens, but many times it is due to the fact that there is an abnormality in the growing baby.

After 12 weeks the chance of miscarriage decreases drastically. I never told anyone I was pregnant until I was past 12 weeks and have not miscarried any.
