Hello, yes, I don't know what is the name for that "sand storm under the water"but if you have a water stream flowing close to the bottom this lift the sand from the bottom same as the wind lift the sand in the desert. Wind and water are a fluid so they have almost the same behavior,in fact when you see the water in the ocean that is not clear it is because of the same situation and the same occurs in the rivers with the mud.You can see that in the shoreline when you have waves the water most of the time is not clear especially beaches with no reef ,in the Caribbean the water is completely clear because the water most of the time is calm but when it raft the water is full of sand.Most of the time the deep see divers who work at the oil platforms work in a completely cero visibility environment due to the sand and also the lack of sun light.
From the air it is easy to see areas in the ocean where the sand is been removed by the water from the bottom.
