Rx-8's have horrible MPG, I'd go with the Elantra. It has the same base drivetrain as the Tiburon. Its cheaper to buy, own and insure. It also gets better Mpg than the Tiburon by 5 and the RX-8 by 10 on the highway, The Elantra price $13,000. Tiburon $16,000. RX-8 $ 27,000.

Why not look at a used Subaru WRX STi? It'll spank all these cars and get decent mileage too.

Hyundai has a bad reputation for quality, so they're not a viable choice regardless of model.

The RX-8 has had recalls for engine issues, and the power output is not as high as the Subaru WRX STi.
