I know since koi are so hardy they are illegal in maine because they are considered invasive. Are white clouds also illegal here?

Good question,White Clouds could possibly survive some of the year in some streams in Maine, but I doubt if they could make it through the winter there. To find out about the legality, you could contact the Fish and Wildlife Dept. or the Conservation Dept. in your state. It might help if you knew the Latin name for White Clouds. Could probably find that on Google. Hope this helps. PeeTee

white clouds are NOT illegal anywhere..they are tropical and would die outside in Maine winters.
Koi illegal???? I doubt it. OK...I just looked it up, and crazy Maine considers koi the scourge of the Earth. I dont' think I will be moving to maine soon, but that has nothing to do with Koi fish.

koi are particularly aggressive mutant types of common carp. this means that they not only fight with other fish, they reproduce rapidly, eat the young of other species and the favorite foods of the other types. they can be used for other activities but the locals are rightly afraid of interrupting the food chains in the salmonid lines(trout and salmon) koi have few natural enemies other than komodo dragons native to the pacific islands and kodiak bears. why would you think that this creature is a benefit to the habitat???

Skittles,
I'm not sure about what is illegal in Maine. Try stopping by the native fish forums at FishGeeks where there are several experts in what is available in the US.

I dunno but you can check with your wildlife and game offices as here they have extensive lists of animals that are and are not allowed in the state.
