I am looking for a step up guitar from my first one, and I decided I want a Epiphone Les Paul. I noticed that there is many different versions such as standard, plain top, standard plus...etc. Can you tell me the differences between these? Also, which kind do you personally recommend. Thank you!

The differences tend to be mostly aesthetic. The one significan way in which they tend to differ is the kind of pick-ups they have. The Les Paul custom has humbucker pick-ups whereas the the Les Paul studio doesn't. It's really just a question of taste; you should try playing both and deciding which sound you prefer.

But actually, depending on your budget, I would go for the Gibson version rather than the Epiphone. Epiphone is owned by Gibson and all their guitars are pretty good; but the ones that carry the Gibson name on them tend to be much better. If you can afford it; buy Gibson.

if u like les paul type bodies then i suggest looking at ESP LTD EC series guitarsguitars. they're much better for the price and if u like playing metal, itll be perfect for you. wuts so good about them is that they have 24 frets as opposed to the epis with only 22. also the finishes, at least in my opinion look much better. go on the musicians friend website so u c wut i mean
www.musiciansfriend.com and search ESP LTD EC
