Traingular prism has triangle as a base and rectangular prism has rectangle as base.

I think that 'prism' is one of those words without a clear geometric definition. Most likely, it refers to the cross section.

For example, a cylinder has a circular cross section. A rectangular prism, when sliced by a plane perpendicular to the axis, is a rectangle. A trianglular prism would have a triange as the cross section.

That's what I think, and I am unanimous in that opinion, as Mrs Slokum would say.

It depends on the base shape.

A rectangular prism's base is a rectangle.
