I'm not a Boise State fan, just an anti-BCS fan.

Probably not, but it's hard to tell if they deserve it or not. Regardless of who wins tonight, if there WERE to be one more game, a lot of fans, coaches, and pundits would plausibly argue that the championship game should be between USC and the winner because USC's schedule was so much more demanding than BSU's and their bowl win against Michigan was more impressive than BSU's against Oklahoma (even if it wasn't as exciting).

But BSU deserves a lot more respect than they are getting even yet. For example, people keep saying that they didn't play a ranked team during the regular season. I suppose that's technically true in that Oregon State may not have been ranked at the time BSU beat them. And they played Oklahoma in a post season game. But they also beat a very good Hawaii team (ranked 31 in the BCS). And they beat a Nevada team that held its own with Miami. Their schedule may be somewhat weak, but check out some of the weak sisters a lot of these teams play to get the records they have. And who in their right mind wants to add BSU to their non-conference schedule?

Now as to the playoff issue--I just don't think it will ever work. Even in NCAA basketball, where they allow 65 teams into the tournament (if you count the play-in game), there is ALWAYS controversy over teams left out of the tournament. How would you decide who would be in a tournament for NCAA football that would be any less controversial than what we have now? And how many weeks would this tournament be played over?

And even then, at this level, these games are brutal. (Pointing out that Division II and Division III have playoffs is irrelevant.) To expect teams to come back and play in top form for several weeks in a row is unrealistic. One of the reasons a lot of these bowl games are so good is that the teams have the time to rest, get well, and prepare like crazy for one opponent.

Nothing against Ohio State, they are a great college team. However, I am hoping that Florida can somehow pull off an upset. If they do, I really hope they do a split national championship similar to the LSU/USC split national championship a few years ago. I hope the AP votes for Boise State as national champs due to them being the only undefeated team in Division 1 Football.

Nevermind that Boise State probably cannot hang with any of the teams in front of them. It'll be worth the embarrassment for the BCS and hopefully can spur some real action towards a true National Champship through a playoff system like they do in Division 2 and 3 football.

With that said, Ohio State will win tonight and there won't be any controversy because the BCS will say "see, the best team in the nation won".

Memo to the BCS, getting lucky is different that determining a true champion like they do in other sports through playoffs.

Boise State should not be in the top 5, no matter what happens. I enjoyed watching them whip Oklahoma, but get serious. They played nobody all year. Put Boise in the SEC and they would have 3-4 losses. LSU would beat them by 40.

No, Florida should. Boise State won the Fiesta Bowl, not the National Championship. They are the Fiesta Bowl Champions.

First OSU not going to lose. And second no Boise State is in I think the WAC. Put them in the Pac 10 Big12 and they lose two the three games.

No. Oklahoma sucks anyways. Besides OSU, teams like Michigan, Florida, LSU, Wisconsin, etc all could easily beat Boise State.

Next year. You are the legitimate Fiesta Bowl Champions bar non. This is Boise first legitimate year. I remember when they would get killed. You got a lot to prove next year Concentrate on repeating your record next year. Your presence is changing the game landscape.

No. They did not play one team in the top 40!! during their regular season.

But the NCAA should implement a playoff system that would have allowed them to prove themselves of possibly being the #1 team in the country.

This is why I hate the BCS! Y couldn't they have a tournament with the top 64 like in college basketball? But, to answer your question, no cuz they had an easy schedule.
