Does the Sidekick use a Sim card the way cingular phones do? Because my friend is giving me her sidekick, but i dont want to open a contract with tmobile or anything becuase i am with cingular.

Yes, BUT you have to get it unlocked with the subsidy code from T-Mo unless you can find another way. Even unlocked, it will only be good for phone calls and SMS. You might be able to configure picture messaging and wireless web, but you won't be able to use the other sidekick features on Cingular.

T-Mobile has a Sim Card that it uses and it's not compatible with the network that Cingular has. The Sidekick 3 was only made for T-Mobile network not to used on any other cellular phone network.

usualy by puting a sim card from cingular and a little bit of work to get the csk unlocked it should work as if you bought the phone from Cingular

yes they both use sim cards but you can only put yours into hers if its unlocked...you can do the same with any other phone as long as its unlocked...if its another cingular phone then it doesnt matter...as long as the networks are the same it doesnt need to be unlocked
