I'll bet you are suppose to figure this out yourself - homework question right? Well 7" has how many 1/4's in it first? 7x4=28, plus the exrar 1/4 = 29. Divide 29 by 3 (# of 1/4's per piece) = 9 and 2/3 or 9.666 repeating decimal. The answer is 9. 2/3 of a piece is not 3/4 so the answer is 9 with a remainder of 2/3. (and 2/3 of 3/4 is .50 inch piece left over)
