i would recommend you make sure its compatable. once you are sure it is, i guess just try and re install it. it is possible you got a defective unit so you may want to exchange it....

How did you determined that it only recognized 1 GB?

Did the boot up memory check say 1 GB or 2 GB? Did the BIOS say 1 GB or 2 GB? Did the system applet in control panel say 1 GB or whatever?

1gb ddr ram...its definetely not compatible...

a pentium d 2.8ghz on a compatible motherboard uses DDR2 memory...not DDR...how you got it in there is beyond me.

if that is a typo, then you probably got a defective memory stick (happens every once in awhile).

try swapping the RAM with each other, your computer does have a maximum amount of RAM that can be installed but 1GB does seem rather small for a max, crucial.com has a RAM scanner which will scan your system and tell you how much RAM your comp can have.

could you please post the solution if you find one in here...thanks

Best thing to do is to bring the new chip to the place you bought it from together with your PC box and get them to fit and test.

you can also check in your hardware config to get your computer to recognize the new ram
