The US entered WWI due to many reasons. Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare and the Zimmerman Telegraph to the Mexicans( where in it, Germany offered to help Mexico regain territories it had lost to the United States). This initiated the events that led to the United States and Germany going war. Being that Americans were outraged by this potential threat to their national security.
For the preparation, the US had virtually no military. This led to the mobilization and training of millions of men for warfare. In addition, American industry, at the time, was not focused on making military equipment; therefore factories had to change their production to rifles, airplanes, and tanks. This huge arrival of men without weapons led to weapon shortages on the actual Western Front itself, since Britain and France had to supply almost all the weapons.

The political impact, was Wilson decided to mobilize American men to fight by using massive propaganda. They also used propaganda to emphasize Germany’s threats in the seas.
