What is the context? Some people are thoughtless and say things without understanding what they actually are saying. Then you have to recognize their ignorance and, like someone said, take it from the source. If it's racial or ethnic or religious bigotry you don't have to stand for it whether it effects you or someone else; stand up and say, "I don't like that kind of talk." If it's meant as constructive criticism, it may be worth listening to.

It's no much the things that people say that bother us, its the importance we attach to it. There is always going to be people out there who will say mean things to others. The problem is that they know it gets under your skin, and that is why they keep doing it. You can't put any belief into what there saying ok? After all, its not true right? Just learn to ignore these ignorant morons.

Simple..this is what I tell my pre-teens and teens....People say mean things to make themselves feel better. It has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU!!! It can ONLY hurt you if YOU give them the power to do so. So next time you hear a mean comment ...just ignore it. Walk away if you can or change the subject. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE POWER! Hugs!

Just think of something that makes you happy or think really bad things about them in your mind. If you ignore people they wouldn't bother you. Or......beat them up!...only kidding...Violence is not the answer. Ask God to help you with being peacful and help block out offensive things.

you must ask your self why they are saying such things.
and normally it is because they are very insecure about them selves, and the only way to make them feel better is by picking fault with others, thus taking the attention away from there selves.
so the next time they are going of on one just smile, and be glad your not one of them.

PEOPLE SAY THINGS TO HURT OTHER PEOPLE SO THEY CAN FEEL BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES...YOU HAVE PROBABLY DONE THAT WITHOUT NOTICING AT SOME POINT...ANYTHING THAT ANYONE WILL SAY WILL ALWAYS AFFECT YOU BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FOCUS ON SOMETHING ELSE AND DON'T LET IT GET TO YOU...

you're honestly not going to be able to ignore it and its always going to get to you, but its important to keep in mind that when they're being mean to you, they have no self confidence themselves and want to make themselves feel better by making you feel bad. its still going to annoy you, but before you let it affect you too much, you need to remember that.

Just see them as the childish persons that they are, and remember the source. And don't give them the satisfaction of letting them see it bothers you. Good Luck.
