My best advice is to make sure it's plugged in the right port in the back of your PC, or it might be a driver problem? Something similar happened to me but it was because I had installed a nice video/sound card and I needed to plug my monitor in it instead of the original port for the monitor. Anyway, hope that helps in some way!

If your computer is not working properly when it is switched on, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yd34oj

My first guess would be, bad video card.
