The normal thing is to want the "American Dream", however, I'm 27, single, no children and I have no plans on getting married, but besides that, I have no real desire to own my own home, it just seems like a lot of hassel, I find it much more convienent to rent. Is home owning as glorious as it's cracked up to be? Should I reconsider?

Sounds perfectly normal to me. You are only 27 so you have the right to keep your life hassle free. There may be many changes coming along with your career, meeting someone, perhaps change of location, so no need to hurry into anything you aren't ready for. Time may change your perspective but until then just enjoy your life and keep it simple.

Being a homeowner is a big responsibilty that you shouldn't accept until you are financially and emotionally ready. Don't rush into anything and really consider your options. Renting has a lot of benefits--you don't have to pay for repairs, you can move when you feel like it, no property tax and it gives you time to save a down payment and repair your credit to buy a house in the future if so decide. But, owning a home offers a lot of benefits too--house payments pay your morgage and not someone else's, real estate is a good investment, you can make any changes you want to your property, and you build equity in a house and that increases your profit when you sell. And, if you decide to buy a house, make sure the price is good, you like the area and the house, your job is secure, you've found a city that you want to settle down in, you can comfortably afford the house payments, and your credits good.

Don't reconsider until you are absolutely ready!

By renting, you are able to move to another location whenever you want to; whether it is in the same city or to a different country.

Also, for where I live, it's cheaper to rent than to buy. A condo next door is $748,000. My rent is $1450.

When I was a homeowner, I loved it. It was a nice feeling to drive up and say "This is MINE." I didn't love it so much when I relocated to a different state and was stuck with the mortgage for 6 months until it sold.

To me it sounds like you're an incredibly healthy person. A lot of people are programmed to just do what everyone else does. They don't even enjoy it half of the time: graduate from college, get a job, get married, get a house, have kids, ... That's all fine and dandy, but a lot of people do it so mindlessly. Everything fits into place.

well, it's not weird, but it's not a logical thought, think logicly, think in long term, would u stay always with no home? life is not safe, i mean, now, u can have the money to rent, tomorrow, u might not(i wish it won't be the case), in life , everythi,ng is possible, so get prepared for any kind of surprise, insure for u and for ur future family may be a respectful home!
yes, u are young now, it's normal to think that way, when we are young, everythings seems to be easy and we see life in pink colour!!! just think abt the idea of having a home, and don't mess any interesting opportunity to get it!
i'm 23, and i wish to have my own as soon as possible, i will feel more secured, and more relaxed!!
think abt it!
good luck

I don't think you are wrong, I am married and I still have no desire to own a home yet.
