country from what I am reading. If that is so true how come the republicans controlled congress for the past eleven years and all of government for the past six. Wouldn't that imply the damage is being done by the republicans?

Whoa!!!! The people who have been in charge for six years are social conservatives. They are a long stretch from fiscal conservatives, the type of conservatives we think of when the word is used.
The fiscal policies followed for the last six years are clearly liberal. Huge deficits, borrowing to make ends meet, increasing the size of government without increasing taxes.
The only thing conservative about the current lot in office is the fact that they want government to control morality in this country.
So, are liberals ruining this country. Yes. But it's the liberal fiscal policy of the social conservatives.

For one thing, I am conservative...and I will agree that the Reps have not done everything right, but at the same time, neither have the Dems. I see just as many Dem. pointing fingers and name calling as I do reps. And both parites have a hand in it....what I think is going wrong with this country is we are allowing to much grey area...we are losing many of the moral grounds that this country was founded on and we are getting to the point where we are to afraid to do anything because we might not be PC anymore. We can't do anything without being sued of blamed in some way shape or form.....what is going wrong with this country is not just one party of the other....its from an entire country of people Liberal and Conservatives who refuse to take any resposibility for their own actions and just step up and say...ok yep my fault....all peolple are so quick to blame others.....I mean even the little things.....like I read the other day a blind man was sueing target because the web site was not compatible to the technology that allowes blind people to use the internet....or the women who spilled coffee on here self and the sued because it we hot and she burt herself...like she thought the coffee was going to be cold.....people are more worried about themselves that whats really going on in this country....politicians are more worried about getting elected that actually doing anything once they are there. The wealthy are worried about keep the wealth...and the average american is just worried how they are going to pay next months rent and still have enough money to buy that new motorcycle or video game or whatever.....I think that more and more people are talking and not doing....talking about the gov...and then not voting....talking about the poor and then not donating, talking about the kids, and then not mentoring......we as a people are becoming more and more concerned about how we appear that how we actually are......

What, Yes it would...The Republicans have had control, and when things go wrong, instead of standing up, and taking responsibility they point their fingers.
Just look at the masses of Republicans just within the past 6 years, that have resigned, quit, jailed, under investigation.......now they are going to try another ploy, to have an excuse for their failures. If Bush really wanted a Troop Surge, he could have asked for it Months ago, and already had it approved with his previous led GOP Congress, But now with the Democrats having Power in Congress, the Republicans will Blame the Democrats if they do or dont. But, there is a such thing as Oversight Investigation, and its a good thing to keep our Government in Check

Republicans won congress because they gave up the '90s to form a winning campaign and it worked. I think most people are 'liberal' now because, for example, with everything controversial happening now-a-days the 109th congress has passed 383 bills of which over 25% concerned name changes to federal buildings, primarily post-offices.

Even Congress doesn't 'control' everything. You forget there is a court system here, and, unfortunately, a lot of judges (particularly the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals) are legislating from the bench.

It's not any particular Party that's responsbile.

Hey let's blame it on Clinton!!!!! He was the one democrat in office these past eleven years so it's got to be his fault!!! Never mind that is was congress in control! Never mind that we have had another two republican presidents!!!! It would make to much common sense to see the major factor in the matter (republican party). It's always easier to say that the other party is at fault then it is to say must be some of the politicians in my party!!

Because too many republicans forgot why the people in America sent them to Washington. They fell into the democrat policies of spend, spend, spend and let the liberal news media scare them away from standing up to the left-wing wack-o's. I hope by 2008 they have regained their courage because the dems will not stand up to the terrorists.

It would appear that a lot on the right blame all that ails them on Liberals. The funny thing is exactly what you pointed out; we haven't been in power for over a decade. I'm pretty sure the left is not destroying America like the religious and zealous right would have us believe.

Republicans and Conservatives have become very good at spinning the truth. You see it in politics, on yahoo, and virtually everywhere. When these people get all their information from the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity, they are going to pass on the lies and mistruths that they hear. Just because they are good at "spinning the truth", it doesn't make it right. Your statement is just another example of the 'right' being wrong.
