I think what they want is not the traditional music but more of a rock musical. I think you should sing something from Rent, Aida, Footloose, Last 5 Years, or Songs for a New World. I think any of these shows would work out for you and I wish you the best of luck. Also, in case you didn't know this, you shouldn't audition with any song from HSM [a standard rule in the musical biz.]

I would probably sing something from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It's older, but it's not traditional Broadway. The narrator's part is usually played by a female.

Try "On My Own" from Les Miserables beautiful song. It should fit in the alto range very nicely or "I Enjoy Being A Girl" from Flower and Drum Song or "Happily Ever After" from Once Upon a Mattress. I think all three are very good songs (or else I wouldn't have suggested them) I think any of them should fit nicely in your range.

forget about the boy from thoroughly modern millie is a good one and is my audition piece for all the auditions i go to (i go to about 3 or 4 a month) you can also try popular from wicked but i wouldnt recommend it because wicked is extremely overdone for auditions and the auditioners get bored of it and quit paying attention so unless you have a phenomenal voice you probably shouldnt use wicked
