i have seen people get over 2mbps
but i get only 20-30Kbps
my connection is via lan

Depends on what you are paying for doesnt it? Not everyone with internet automatically gets the same as everyone else.
You pay less, you get slower internet. Try looking at your bill / going to www.speedtest.net. See if what you pay for matches what you actually get.
If not, go mental at your ISP!

First question is was it on the same Internet connection or provider. Second is there something on your connection that is eating up bandwidth. If you know the answer to those to questions you can narrow it down.
