I dont understand why people think that evanescence is emo or gothic..it just doesnt make sence to me!! i love evanescence!! me and my friend are like crazy over them!!! and people have to realize that some people that listen to evanescence ARENT ALWAYS EMO OR GOTHIC

Well it goes to Amy Lee. Some refer to her as Hollywood's depressed girl, because of her lyrics and the music videos. You know that song "Tourniquet" in Fallen? That was like a really dark song. So that's where everyone gets the idea Amy Lee's emo, but I think that she really isn't emo, she's just into the dark stuff.

Everybody now has to label everything and everyone, it's pathetic. Bands that aren't even emo get labeled that all the time...but Evanescence is a great band, don't stop listening to them just because of what other people label them, they actually have some talent!

Evanescence is not emo. They're a pop goth-metal band with goth-lite lyrics. I do think Amy sees them as goth or metal because I've seen interviews with her in strictly (very strictly) goth and metal magazines so if the lead singer identifies them as something, I tend to think that's what the band itself believes to be the sound of the music.

Evanescence is not emo nor gothic . they are a great band you have to listen to each song very carfully i dont care what they are they make great and beautiful music. and they need to keep doing it/

Her music is about suicide in one song, and about dying in the other songs some, and betrayal in some others, but some are actually ok, like imagination where you just want to get away and such.
People see the words 'death, black, goth, medieval, suicide' they don't look any farther and assume. You have to deal with that a lot, trust me. Stereotypes are so annoying. Most of her songs, if you look a little closer are about her songs, she actually sings about redemption and forgiveness and not to worry, etc. etc. Just listen to the lyrics.
A little hard to understand yeah, but you know what I mean. I listen to Ev too. Her latest songs are wicked.

I don't think that they are. I am neither and EMO or Gothic. Way too old for that. And I love Evenescence. Then again what do I know. lol

she doesnt sing pop and its kinda dark, yeah i admit that shes good but she IS kind of dark, not really that gothic, and i dont think emo

because people are judging them on the way they look. they are a little on the emo side, but not fully. but i agree, they are a great band.
