I start going back to school january tenth, and my dad told me I need to get a job...
Me and my boyfriend have been together for like two years and if I get a job how am I supposed to havw time for him???? I know it sounds stupid, but I love him. I was wondering where an almost 18 year old could get a job at but still have time for the people I love... because I don't want to lose him over a job... but I need to get a car.

maybe what you can do is buy some stuff to make your own jewelry and sell them at school or with your friends. You can also buy cool candies or something really cool and sell them at school, but remember to sell stuff that they don't have at school. that way you can have your own money and still have time for your bf

Girls usually do pretty well in the restaurant business, it pays well if you are good at it and you aren't guaranteed to work every night. You can hang out with him on your days off and maybe catch lunch with him when you can. It's part of getting into a mature relationship, you will eventually have to balance work, school, or whatever else along with a relationship. You can't just not work the rest of your life and hang out with him whenever you want. I'm sure he'll have to get a job soon too (assuming he doesn't already have one). The most important part is to make the time you do have together quality, it'll make up for not getting to spend 24/7 together.

How about both of you working at the same job?? You will both earn money and also see each other, although there cannot be the dating stuff while you are working. However, you both would still be seeing each other and know the other is OK. Plus there is the time together going to and from the job. Hey, married people have to do the same kind of scheduling.

Juggling the important things in your life takes practice. If you only end up with a few hours a week to see your bf then it will make the time you do get more special and make you appreciate what you do have. If you have a job then it means when you do see him you will have the cash to be able to do special things together.

Your dad is right you need your own income and your own independence. My best advice to you is to carry this forward as you get older and never ever be reliant on a guy financially.

If he is worth knowing he will appreciate the time you do give him

Think about it: some of the best relationships can be formed where both partners work. It doesn't matter what job you get but you will be surprised how easily you will still be able to find time for our bf. And if you get lonely at work, just think of the car ;)

Try your local Y.M.C.A. I used to work at one by my place part-time. Most positions are usually a little bit more than minimum wage and most are willing to work with your schedule. Plus the facility hours aren't too bad and weekends usually open later and close early leaving more time to spend with your boyfriend. Hope this helps you .

omg, welcome to the real world, honey. what do you think happens when you decide to get married? you and your husband are going to have jobs! what are you going to do then? not get a job just so you can spend time with your husband?

grow up. learn to prioritize your time. learn to budget. learn what it means to have some responsibility.

btw, if your bf dumps you b/c you get a job, he's not worth it.
