I had to give blood a few times to check on my levels, then between 24-28 weeks you take the gestational diabetes test (you drink this orange soda stuff) and you wait and they take your blood a few times. Then if your levels seem a bit high, you repeat that test (this time sitting there for 2 hours) and they take blood three more times. It's exasperating!!

i am 35 1/2 weeks pregnant and i only had blood taken from me in 2 different doctors appointments, 1 was for the AFP testing and they checked out other stuff (not sure what it was, that was at like 19 weeks). the second time they took blood was for gestational diabetes and enemia.

Mine is usually about every other appointment and I have no complications. Towards the end (when going every other week or every week) it wasn't as often, more like once a month. Good Luck!

depends on your "complications"
Big screening at the beginning, blood work for glucose/diabetes screening later are common.
other than that pro bally only if you have issues like toxemia
