I sleep with earplugs, my door closed, and blankets over my head. But any little noise I hear bothers me sooo much. The fridge is in the next room, but somehow I can still hear the vibration or something.
HELP!!!

Oh my god I thought I was one of the only people with this problem! I can hear the TV down the hall in my parents room, and the only way for me to drown it out is to have them close their door, my door, and turn on the fan. They get so mad at me because I always go over to their room and check to make sure their door is shut tight. But anyways, if you can't sleep with a fan, how about making sure your brother's door is completely shut? Teach him to sleep with a night light (is he younger or older? If he's younger, go with the night light definately. If he's older, make him shut the door.) About the fridge-can you find the part of the fridge that makes the noise and put something on it to muffle it? It's probably the engine or the ice maker. Just put a towel over it to muffle the noise. Good luck and remember-you're not alone!

My son did this too when he was that young and now (7 1/2 months) sometimes he cries in his sleep and can't be comforted. We actually have to wake him up to get him to stop crying! He then will stop and go back to sleep. I am not sure what it is (nightmares or what) but it doesn't happen all the time like when he was little but it happens occasionally. I don't think it indicates that he will be a sleep talker though he may be =) Good luck and congrats on your new little one!

I have the same problem. My solution is to add some full frequency noise to the room every night, it drowns out all the other sounds and lets me sleep peaceably. Be sure it is a sound that is loud enough to drown out the other sounds, but not something that would keep you up at night. It does work, and there are commercial sound makers available, but I usually just use a loud fan.

I go through this same thing, night after night. The only relief I have ever had came from a sleep aid. Try an OTC "Tylenol PM" type product or something stronger like Ambien. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you but for me it only got worse as time went on until I finally had to break down and take something. Good Luck>

Maybe you have obsessive compulsive disorder?
All I know is that you have to get used to a lot of sleeping situations, because you don't know where you might end up tomorrow. Try to "train" yourself by sleeping with the TV on one night, your noisy little brother in your room another...

Have you tried a "white noise" machine? Counselors use them in office settings to guarantee client confidentiality.

There are constructional ways, you need a soundproof wall. If that isnt gonna happen ask to sleep on the other side of your house, and maybe get some better earplugs!Sorry not much help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

you may have underlying problems. maybe you see your doctor about it.
I have had this problem and it can be caused by anxiety, depression or OCD
Medication can help.
not saying that this is your problem but if it's really bad- see someone
