The inner child is a subject that cannot be covered in just a few words. If the inner child has been hurt or traumatized in some way, and you suppress the child you most definitely could suffer from depression, fears, anxiety, etc. Suppressing the inner child can also hide negative self-beliefs that you continue to tell yourself and cannot find the source of.
Even more though, our inner child holds many of our emotions, not just negative ones (or those perceived as negative). Emotions such as joy and happiness may also be suppressed along with the other emotions, further complicating your emotional health.

The only people who have to worry about the "inner child" are pregnant women. And I don't have to tell you the negative consequences in their cases.

Knowing when to hold the inner child back is just as if not more important,but holding back your fun side I like to call it, is sad, you miss out on allot of healing qualities it gives.to you and the people around you. hee hee ha ha ho ho : )
