HI. I am a salesman for Honda. This answer is based on what I know and also as a consumer, I am not here to try to sell the car, it would be imposible.

The last guy before is right. Do not buy something just because it would be cheaper. You have your reasons to want the CR-V and I don't blame you, It is awesome.

About the price, here is my advise. Tell me if i'm wrong but I prerfectly know that the sticker price of the car you are looking at is $21,195 (2WD LX). That includes $595 destination charges that is shown in the window sticker, do not let the dealership tell you that they have to charge you to get you the car, look at the sticker, it shows.
now. some dealerships are putting a Market Adjustment add up to the price. This is because the car is really HOT. HIgh demand low supply, very simple. Knowing what I know I recommend this. Go the dealership and make them this offer: Sticker price plus taxes, tag fee and doc fee (they'll know what you are saying) plus any accesory you want. Depending in the state you are in the sales taxes are going to be diferent so that will affect the out the door price. Let me tell you, using my calculator, if you live in a state that has a 6% sales taxs in cars, and you are not buying any accesories, that quote they gave you is about $500 dollars over sticker. That has been normal since the CR-V came out in september, In my dealership we charge $500 over sticker because of the high demand. Believe, the CR-V doesn't has a lot of mark-up any ways. In a $21,000 car, the dealership only makes about $1,300 profit. So, what I'm trying to say is that the quote you have is already good, try though to get another $500 off. However, believe me, (and I sell Hondas now, comp[are to the guy that used to), if you don't buy it, there is going to be another customer waiting right behind you, It happens to me all the time. Now, the salesman shouldn't act like an ***, in fact, you get the best deals when you are nice to the salesman and polite, making him be in your side. Also, if you are ready to buy, say it. If you tell the salesman that you are buying TODAY you'll get the deal. And yes, they do try to sell you the car that is in stock, but if you had a retail business you would understand. And yes, Hondas are great cars that do deserve do be consider higher than the rest, Toyotas are great, but as they are rigth now, the RAV-4 is not a competitor for the CR-V. The price you got is good, but see if you can get another $500 off. But go with papers, don't go to the dealership saying that a guy in the internet told you the price to ask. Be serious and print out the price from the Honda webside and show them that you have been doing some research and add the numbers in from of them for your offer so they know that you know what you are talking about.

Sounds like people are trying to sell you a Toyota Rav4 instead of helping you decide on what you like. Don't buy a vehicle because the design is older like this guy above says. Keep in mind he is a sales rep, so he will sell what he has been brain washed to sell. The CR-V was on an Accord frame but the 2007 is not, the Uni-body is redesigned so the second guy should stop right there. The best advise I can give you is if you feel a dealership is charging too much money for a vehicle whether it is new or old get another quote from another dealership. Don't change the vehicle's model or make just because people feel another vehicle is better. All vehicles will sell and a Honda's resale value is just like the Toyota. So if you like the CR-V buy it! I've driven both and I like both, but if I was to choose the CR-V, hands down. When your buying a new car, that's exactly what you want a "new" vehicle a new design, something that not everyone has. The CR-V is new and different so why not?

I would look at the Rav-4 first off I do not know if they still do this but when the Honda came out with the CR-v is was placed on a accord frame so essentially your driving an accord not no SUV
so ask them if they have changed the set-up and are using a true truck frame. Depending on where you live make sure you get A/C
on the model you buy very important after you have bought it without then decide you want it installed around 3000 dollars.
Spend the extra money on 4 wheel drive unless you live somewhere hot year round. Also consider getting a used vehicle
preowned vehicles will save you thousands and the little bit of breaking in is already done for you. If you like SUV's and Imports check out this site www.outback.ca

For a base CRV with nothing in it essentially. No nice alloy wheels, etc. Seems a little high.

Currently Honda is getting top dollar for the CR-V because it is literally BRAND NEW. If you are interested in the CR-V, go give the Rav 4 from Toyota a drive. You will get a much better deal on them now as they have been out with their redesigned model for a few months and want to steal marketshare from Honda.

Honda is hard to budge on their pricing because as the dealer tells you when you walk in, the cars sell themselves. So they have no reason to haggle. I worked for Acura/Honda dealer for a year and dealt with the same thing.

Not to mention they might even tell you, you have to take a certain model or color to get the deal because it is IN STOCK. It is a huge BS line, especially when they give YOU a time limit to decide. When you get that pressured you simply tell them, "then I guess I'm not ready, because YOU said so." politely walk out and wait for the phone call. Make them sweat, you are the one buying the car, forget them for a minute and worry about yourself because they surely don't care. You go on the board at the end of the month to help someone earn bonus.


But seriously, check out the Rav 4 and also make sure you have an idea of what you are doing, financing, purchasing out-right, or leasing. I'm assuming your leasing so take this into consideration:

Given you have good credit i.e. 650-700+, for every thousand you finance (borrow from the bank) you can expect a car payment to be $20-25 per month on a 5 year (60 month) term. So if you buy a $17,000 car and put $2,000 down, you are going to pay at least $300 a month. Keep your budget in mind and don't take the first offer. Hit them back, if you have the option, go to another dealership and try and get a price from them as well for comparison, it helps keep the dealer honest. Or you can even thell them you are calling another dealer and get them to lower the price.

Probably not but CR-V is still a good car. Last time it was $19,000.

you shouldn't borrow money to pay the taxes on a vehicle. not a smart economical move.
