So, you saw Romeo and Juliet. IT'S BEAUTIFUL!! I enjoy watching Nuryev and Fonteyn dance, they have the best chemistry and both dance so beautifully. Fonteyn will forever be a fabulous dancer, but with new dancer's everyday, it is impossible for one to stay "The Best" forever.
Ballet changes everyday. Maybe the terms and styles don't, but the dancers do, and so does the appreciation the public has. Less and less people today really appreciate the beauty in ballet, or any dance for that matter. It's a bit depressing, as a dancer. That being said, ballet is not as popular (as it used to be) and dancer's are not as recognizable unlike Nuryev and Fonteyn.
A beautiful principal dancer at the NYC ballet is Ashley Bouder and Sara Mearns is great too, so I have heard. Those are some names, among many, that I have heard great news about at the NYC ballet. You can find out about them at the website.
And my best friend, whom I think is a wonderful dancer, and all of my other friends who have been dancing with me for so long. They are all wonderful dancers in my eyes.

Basically what everyone else has said. A famous male dancer is Mikhail Baryshnikov who played on Sex and the City. Anna Pavlova is a favorite of mine.
